About The Position

Apple’s Cellular group is seeking a Cellular-RF Post-Silicon Validation Engineer to develop and execute comprehensive RF validation strategies for cellular silicon products. The role involves conducting RF performance measurements, analyzing complex data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve silicon design issues. The engineer applies knowledge of RF system parameters, measurement methodologies, and cellular standards to verify that products meet quality and performance specifications throughout development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an RF post-silicon or RF systems role.
  • Strong understanding of RF fundamentals and wireless communications standards, including 5G NR and LTE.
  • Expertise with RF test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, and vector signal analyzers.
  • Data analysis skills and proficiency with technical computing environments such as MATLAB or Python.
  • Demonstrated systematic problem-solving and RF debugging capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in block-level RF validation, including characterization of LNAs, PAs, mixers, PLLs, and filters within integrated silicon, and related measurement methodologies.
  • Expert knowledge of RF performance metrics including NF, IIP3, P1dB, phase noise, and EVM, and ability to trace system issues to block-level root causes.
  • Understanding of silicon-specific parasitic effects and their impact on RF performance across PVT corners.
  • Ability to correlate block-level measurements with system-level performance and reconcile simulation-to-silicon discrepancies.
  • Excellent technical communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute effectively to engineering teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to test planning and execution.
  • Proactive, data-driven troubleshooting and problem identification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute RF validation strategies for cellular silicon products.
  • Conduct RF performance measurements and analyze measurement data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve silicon design issues.
  • Develop specialized test setups and methodologies to isolate and characterize RF blocks in integrated systems.
  • Correlate block-level measurements with system-level performance and reconcile differences between simulation and silicon results.
  • Report technical findings to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of post-silicon processes and methodologies.
