About The Position

Bridgeport Public Schools is seeking a CDP Science Instructor for the 2026-2027 School Year. This position is part of the Human Resources Department and will be located at the Adult Learning Center. The role involves teaching adult learners for 12 hours a week at a rate of $45 per hour for 31 weeks.

Requirements

• Connecticut State Certified teacher with a 7-12 General Science (030), Chemistry (031), Physics (032), Earth Science (033) or Biology (034) certification
• Adult Education Endorsement (106) - can apply upon hire.
• Experience in the use of educational technology.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide standards-based lessons that provide opportunity for problem solving, creativity and communication skills in relation to authentic, real-world skills.
• Plan learning activities that differentiate instruction and address individual differences among students.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interest, and abilities of adult learners.
• Develops, administers, and evaluates quality formative and summative assessments that reflect a balance of content knowledge and problem-solving skills.
• Monitors, and evaluates students' progress in relation to the Adult Education College and Career Readiness Standards (CRS) curriculum and policies and other planned goals and objectives.
• Work as a team member to assist students in meeting academic goals.
• Commit to on-going professional development in content area and pedagogy.
