About The Position
The CDL Yard Driver (A) moves trailers and equipment throughout the facility, inspects equipment, reports defects to dispatch or supervisors, and operates yard and material-handling equipment. The position works in a dirty, wet, and noisy environment in all weather conditions.
Requirements
- At least one year of relevant yard, warehouse, or industrial experience.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Reliable and cooperative team member.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, and dirty conditions.
- Ability to safely operate yard equipment in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to learn trailer positioning and backing techniques.
- Willingness to be trained and certified to operate a forklift.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to learn and safely operate yard trucks and equipment.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in tire recycling or manufacturing.
- Heavy equipment operation experience, such as with an excavator, skid steer, or loader.
Responsibilities
- Operate yard trucks and equipment safely while handling loaded and empty containers.
- Transfer and reposition trailers within the yard and designated areas.
- Assist with staging and organizing trailers for loading and unloading.
- Complete paperwork, including trailer numbers, weights, and material type.
- Inspect equipment before and after use and report issues to dispatch or a supervisor.
- Assist with loading and unloading as needed.
- Back trailers into designated areas.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain smooth yard operations.
- Follow safety standards and company policies.
- Maintain yard equipment in good working condition.
