About The Position

US 1 Shorthaul is seeking a CDL Yard and Shuttle Driver for a local haul position. This role involves transporting loads between the warehouse and local distribution centers, performing drop and hook operations, and ensuring equipment compliance. The position is full-time, non-exempt (hourly), with overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in a week. This is a local position with no Over-The-Road (OTR) travel, meaning drivers are home daily. The company emphasizes integrity, experience, and safety, utilizing advanced supply chain management technology for efficiency-driven processes.

Requirements

Minimum 18 months over-the-road experience in the past 5 years, of which 12 months must be within the past 3 years that is similar experience
May substitute local for over-the-road experience
Experience backing 48' to 53' trailers (including to dock doors and in tight spaces)
This position must pass pre-hire background and drug test
Understanding and communicating in the English language is a requirement

Responsibilities

Transporting loads from our warehouse to the local distribution center
Drop the loads at the local distribution center
Hook up a load at the local distribution center
Drop the load from the local distribution center to our warehouse
Maneuvering truck and trailer safely in busy industrial environments
Regularly checking equipment for faults or damages
Ensuring the equipment complies with all guidelines, including weight restrictions
Produce activity logs
Identifying workplace safety hazards
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
