About The Position

Rear Load Truck Drivers service customers by collecting and hauling waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. Drivers serve multiple routes in various areas and provide safe, compliant collection services. The position includes operating and maintaining assigned trucks, handling containers and bulk items, completing inspections and route documentation, and interacting professionally with customers. The role does not manage employees.

Requirements

At least a valid Class B CDL.
A valid DOT Medical Card, or ability to obtain one before hire.
At least 19 years of age.
No more than three moving violations within the last two years.
No DUI or OVI within the last five years, or two within the last ten years.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Valid driver's license, if applicable.
Successfully complete pre-employment testing.
Ability to read and understand a map.
Good written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
Excellent truck driving and maneuvering skills.
Ability to drive while pulling a trailer.
Ability to read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
Ability to travel between offices as required.
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds rarely.
Ability to work continuously outdoors in changing temperatures and wet or humid conditions, and in areas with dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter.
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl frequently; climb and/or balance frequently; and sit, stand, or walk frequently.

Nice To Haves

General knowledge of truck mechanics.
1–2 years of CDL truck driving experience.
Waste industry experience.

Responsibilities

Provide safe, compliant trash or recycling removal services by emptying containers into the truck and hauling materials to a disposal site.
Enter and exit the truck approximately 300–600 times per day, depending on the assigned route.
Pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings as needed.
Return receptacles neatly to the curb or designated area.
Clean up waste spills and overflows.
Maintain and update route and driver log sheets.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete logs.
Interact professionally with internal and external customers and provide excellent customer service.
Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body and keep the truck cab clean.
Deliver trash or recycling containers as needed.
Manually load bulk items as needed.
Maintain the cleanliness of the assigned truck.
Operate other types of trucks as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
