About The Position

Responsible for providing effective instruction of the CDL Program consistent with established objectives, accurate record keeping and reporting. This role involves providing learning experiences, maintaining records, evaluating student performance, and supporting program recruitment and retention efforts. The instructor will also participate in curriculum review, perform assigned duties for operational efficiency, and engage in student learning assessment. A key responsibility includes becoming a certified third-party examiner to conduct DMV tests for CDL students.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • At least 5 years of verifiable truck driving experience
  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Strong background in Safety Training
  • Supply Chain Management knowledge
  • Prior teaching experience
  • Federal Motor Carrier Compliant

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching/training experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective learning experiences for students using a variety of teaching methods.
  • Maintain attendance for each class and assess periodically the success and retention rate of students in each class.
  • Prepare and present course material to the students in such a manner as to be relevant and informative.
  • Evaluate student performance.
  • Support the efforts of the CDL Program in addressing recruitment and retention of students.
  • Support college efforts to improve student success and progression through existing programs.
  • Maintain classroom environment and report problems in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of students enrolled in classes and submit paperwork according to the established schedule.
  • Participate in on-going curriculum review and formal evaluation and implementation necessary changes for improvement.
  • Perform duties as assigned which will contribute to the efficient and effective operation of NCC.
  • Participate in and support ongoing assessment, planning and evaluation to improve student learning.
  • Participate in a DMV course to become a third-party examiner and once certified, perform DMV tests for both Class A and B CDL students.
