CDL Frontload Driver, Lafayette La

Waste Pro•Broussard, LA

About The Position

The Front Load Driver operates refuse collection vehicles on pre-assigned and special routes to collect garbage from commercial businesses. The driver empties front-load containers using controls inside the truck cab and forks, may open corral doors to access containers, and may roll 3- to 4-yard containers weighing up to 600 pounds into position for dumping. The driver picks up loose trash, cleans spills, and transports waste to a designated local landfill or disposal area. Work is performed under supervision and reviewed through route observations and discussion of problems. The driver completes route and productivity sheets, records mileage and fuel consumption, maintains required logs and vehicle condition reports, communicates professionally with customers, and reports customer issues to appropriate internal contacts. The role requires safe truck operation, including inspections, evaluating collected materials for hazards, making safe transport decisions, and protecting employees encountered during work. Drivers clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on landfill runs, keep the truck clean, wash its exterior weekly, and perform basic truck checks such as inspecting under the hood and carriage, checking fluids and tires, and fueling. Employees attend assigned company training, keep up to date on job-related technology, and perform additional duties assigned by a supervisor. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
