CDL Frontload Driver, Lafayette La

Waste Pro USA•Broussard, LA

About The Position

The Front Load Driver operates refuse collection vehicles on pre-assigned and special routes to collect garbage, primarily serving commercial businesses and picking up front-load containers. The driver empties containers using controls inside the truck cab and forks, may open corral doors, and may roll 3- to 4-yard containers weighing up to 600 pounds into position for dumping. The role includes transporting waste to a designated local landfill or disposal area, cleaning up loose trash and spills, and maintaining the truck and its operating condition. Work is performed under supervision and reviewed during and after routes through direct observation and discussion of problems. The driver completes route and productivity sheets, records mileage and fuel consumption, maintains log books when required, and fills out vehicle condition reports and other forms. The position requires professional communication with customers and reporting customer issues or complaints to appropriate internal contacts. Drivers are expected to provide courteous, efficient service and support company and municipal goals. The role requires safe operation of the truck, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections, evaluating collection materials for possible hazardous contents, and deciding what can be safely transported. Drivers clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on landfill runs, keep the truck clean, wash its exterior weekly, and inspect under the hood and undercarriage, check fluids and tire pressure, and fuel the vehicle. Employees must attend assigned company training and stay current with job-appropriate technology.
