About The Position

Rumpke is a family-owned waste and recycling company providing services to customers and communities. Front Load Drivers service commercial customers on assigned routes, collecting and hauling waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. Drivers operate a front-load truck and dump containers using the truck’s forks; they may also need to pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings. The role involves frequent entry and exit from the truck, working outdoors in changing conditions, and professional interaction with customers. This position does not manage employees. The listed duties are not exhaustive and may change at the company’s discretion.

Requirements

Hold at least a valid Class B CDL.
Have a valid DOT Medical Card or be able to obtain one before hire.
Be at least 19 years of age.
Have no more than three moving violations within the last two years.
Have no DUI or OVI convictions within the last five years, or no more than two within the last ten years.
Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Have a valid driver’s license, if applicable.
Successfully complete pre-employment testing.
Be able to read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
Read and understand a map and/or navigation system.
Demonstrate excellent truck driving and maneuvering skills.
Have good written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
Meet the physical demands described, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, sitting, standing, and walking.
Be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed, and work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
Be able to travel between offices as required.

Nice To Haves

General knowledge of truck mechanics.
One to two years of CDL truck driving experience.
Previous front-load truck driving experience.
Waste industry experience.

Responsibilities

Operate trucks safely to collect trash or recycling from customers on assigned routes or work orders and haul materials to a disposal site.
Enter and exit the truck approximately 100–150 times per day, depending on the route.
Open and secure service gates while servicing customers.
Pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings as needed.
Maintain and update route and driver log sheets.
Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete DVIR logs.
Interact professionally with internal and external customers and provide excellent customer service.
Maintain the cleanliness of the assigned truck.
Visually inspect front-load containers to ensure safe dumping procedures.
Clean up areas around containers when servicing customers as needed.
Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body while following proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
