About The Position

Rumpke is a family-owned and operated waste and recycling company that provides essential services to residents, businesses, and communities. Front Load Drivers service commercial customers on assigned routes by collecting and hauling waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. Drivers operate front-load truck forks to empty containers and may need to pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings. The role involves frequent truck entry and exit, customer interaction, inspections and logs, maintaining the truck, and working outdoors in changing conditions. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Requirements

Have at least a valid Class B CDL.
Have a valid DOT Medical Card or be able to obtain one before hire.
Be at least 19 years of age.
Have no more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
Have no DUI or OVI within the last 5 years, or no more than 2 within the last 10 years.
Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Have a valid driver’s license, if applicable.
Successfully complete pre-employment testing.
Be able to read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
Be able to read and understand a map and/or navigation system.
Have excellent truck-driving and maneuvering skills.
Have good written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed; work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
Travel between offices as required.
Meet the stated physical demands, including occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds and rarely up to 100 pounds; frequent pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds and occasional pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds; and frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, sitting, standing, and walking.
Work continuously outdoors in changing temperatures and wet or humid conditions, and in areas with dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter.
Work with possible exposure to high-traffic conditions, tight driving areas, and residential and commercial waste.

Nice To Haves

General knowledge of truck mechanics.
1–2 years of CDL truck-driving experience.
Previous front-load truck-driving experience.
Waste industry experience.

Responsibilities

Operate trucks safely on assigned routes or work orders, emptying trash or recycling containers and hauling the materials to a disposal site.
Enter and exit the truck approximately 100–150 times per day, depending on the route.
Open and secure service gates while servicing customers.
Pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings as needed.
Maintain and update route and driver log sheets.
Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete DVIR logs.
Interact professionally with internal and external customers and provide excellent customer service.
Maintain the cleanliness of the assigned truck.
Visually inspect front-load containers to ensure safe dumping procedures.
Clean up areas around containers when servicing customers as needed.
Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body while following proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
