About The Position

Front Load Drivers service commercial customers on assigned routes by collecting and hauling waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. Drivers operate the truck’s forks to empty front-load containers and may need to pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings. The role involves frequent entry to and exit from the truck, customer service, vehicle inspections and upkeep, and work in outdoor and waste-handling conditions. This position does not manage employees.

Requirements

Have at least a valid Class B CDL.
Have a valid DOT Medical Card or be able to obtain one before hire.
Be at least 19 years of age.
Have no more than three moving violations within the last two years.
Have no DUI or OVI convictions within the last five years, or no more than one within the last ten years.
Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Have a valid driver’s license, if applicable.
Successfully complete pre-employment testing.
Be able to read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand and respond to questions and directions, understand traffic signs and signals, and understand safety training.
Be able to read and understand a map and/or navigation system.
Have excellent truck driving and maneuvering skills.
Have good written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
Be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
Be able to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays as needed.
Be able to travel between offices as required.
Meet the physical requirements of the role, including lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling, and frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, sitting, standing and walking.

Nice To Haves

General knowledge of truck mechanics.
One to two years of CDL truck driving experience.
Previous front-load truck driving experience.
Waste industry experience.

Responsibilities

Operate trucks safely on assigned routes or work orders, emptying waste or recycling containers and hauling materials to a disposal site.
Enter and exit the truck approximately 100–150 times per day, depending on the route.
Open and secure service gates while servicing customers.
Pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings as needed.
Maintain and update route and driver log sheets.
Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete DVIR logs.
Interact professionally with internal and external customers and provide excellent customer service.
Maintain the cleanliness of the assigned truck.
Visually inspect front-load containers to ensure safe dumping procedures.
Clean areas around containers when servicing customers, as needed.
Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body while following proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
