About The Position

The Residential Automated Side Load Driver safely, efficiently, and courteously provides waste removal services to customers. The driver collects solid waste or recyclables on curbside and/or backdoor routes and transports them to post-collection facilities. The role operates a fully automated side-load waste truck alone on assigned routes and requires safe vehicle operation, route management, inspections, and accurate service records.

Requirements

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• At least 2 years of commercial driving experience or a CDL school certificate.
• Meet safety-sensitive criteria and demonstrate safe truck and equipment operation.
• Ability to read maps and route sheets and communicate effectively.
• Full physical mobility, including bending, climbing, and reaching.
• Ability to repetitively lift or move up to 10–25 pounds and occasionally up to 50–100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a fully automated side-load waste truck alone on assigned routes.
• Maneuver the truck in tight spaces and back up 120 feet or more using mirrors.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Complete route sheets and reports, and maintain accurate service records.
• Report mechanical issues immediately and keep the cab and exterior clean.
• Follow federal, state/provincial, and company safety rules.
• Identify and refuse unacceptable waste, such as flammables.
• Maintain route quality standards and collaborate with supervisors to improve efficiency.
• Collect solid waste or recyclables on curbside and/or backdoor routes and transport them to post-collection facilities.
