About The Position

The CDL Road and Range Instructor assists the Dean, works with faculty to promote continuous improvement in instructional quality within assigned programs, and ensures daily program requirements are met. The instructor teaches classroom, range, and road courses as scheduled; advises students; and records comments in Student Driving Records. The role prepares students for success while meeting Department of Driver Services and FMCSA ELDT requirements.

Requirements

Documented expertise in the academic subject area, demonstrated through data sheets, diplomas, transcripts, and licenses or certifications.
Good communication skills.
Ability to provide effective direction and leadership and to work effectively and collaboratively with others.
Appropriate licenses or certifications for the discipline, as required by state licensing standards.
Meet Georgia DDS requirements for a CDL instructor.
At least 3 years of CDL driving experience.
Possess a Class A CDL license.
Pass a DOT physical and a regulated drug test.
Have an acceptable driving record, obey traffic laws, and comply with Hours of Service requirements.

Responsibilities

Teach the assigned course load as directed by the Dean, including classroom, range, and road courses as scheduled.
Demonstrate effective teaching and model appropriate dress, preparation, punctuality, student assessment, and student-centered instruction.
Serve as a subject matter expert for students and instructional staff.
Prepare students for success and meet Department of Driver Services and FMCSA ELDT requirements.
Monitor attendance, ensure sign-in sheets are accurate, and submit them promptly to the Education Manager.
Assist the Dean with faculty training and development.
Monitor range and road equipment, ensure student safety, and promptly document and report safety concerns to the Dean and Campus President.
Follow and support school policies and procedures in the employee handbook, faculty handbook, and catalog.
Keep informed of industry changes through industry events and professional organizations.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Meet with and advise students, and enter comments into Student Driving Records.
