About The Position

The CDL Class B Route Driver will be responsible for selling and delivering dairy products over established routes or territories. This role involves maintaining existing accounts, building strong customer relationships, and distributing authorized products. The driver will also be responsible for maintaining company property, adhering to company policies and D.O.T. guidelines, and ensuring the dairy case at stops is well-maintained with proper stock rotation and acceptable product appearance. This position requires significant customer interaction and sales skills. The driver will collect money, make change, record transactions, write customer orders, and solicit new business. Duties also include loading and unloading product, stocking shelves, setting up displays, issuing promotional materials, and collecting unsold merchandise. The role involves physical demands such as climbing, crawling, walking, and handling heavy items, as well as working in extreme temperatures and outdoor conditions. The successful candidate must maintain the truck's cleanliness, perform routine maintenance, and drive safely and efficiently.

Requirements

Must have a Class A or B commercial driver’s license
Minimum Age: 21, as per Federal D.O.T. regulations
Must be able to pass a D.O.T. Physical and Drug Screen
Must possess and maintain a CDL Class B with Airbrake
Must have basic skills in math, reading and writing. Basic math skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Responsibilities

Drive over established routes or territory to sell and deliver dairy products.
Maintains existing accounts, works to build strong customer relationship.
Distributes all authorized products to all accounts.
Maintain company property such as trucks, computers, cell phones, money and etc.
Required to adhere to company policies.
Must abide by all D.O.T. and company D.O.T. guidelines.
Responsible for the dairy case at their stops on the route, including keeping stock rotated properly and the appearance of the product acceptable.
Collects money from customers, makes change, and records transactions on customer receipt.
Writes customer orders and instructions; records sales or delivery information on daily sales or delivery record.
Calls on prospective customers to solicit new business.
Prepares order forms and sales contracts.
Informs regular customers of new products or services.
Listens to and resolves service complaints.
Load and unload product at destination.
Place stock on shelves or racks.
Set up merchandise and sales promotion displays.
Issue sales promotion materials to customers.
Collect or pick up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.
Stack and unstack items weighing 50 pounds from a height of approximately seven feet to the ground and back continually.
Drag stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds, throughout the shift.
Load and unload truck and carry merchandise.
Keep the inside of the truck clean.
Perform routine maintenance on truck.
Work and drive in a safe, courteous and efficient manner.
