About The Position

EMS CDL Class "A" Truck Driver - $2,500 Sign-On Bonus. Under general supervision, operate company trucks to deliver our products to customers. Your effort will help build America! Eastern Metal Supply is one of the largest distributors of custom and standard aluminum extrusions; you will be supplying what is needed for shutters, fences, highway signage and safety materials, marine parts, handrails, doors and windows. Experience a positive, active, fast-moving day with supportive co-workers and managers.

Requirements

Class "A" CDL driver's license
No more than one major traffic violation within the past 5 years
Lift and carry heavy material up to 75 lbs.
Climb on and off a flatbed trailer
Perform basic math
Read a tape measure

Nice To Haves

Preferably 3 years of experience driving a 53-foot tractor trailer

Responsibilities

Operate company trucks on public roads to transport, load and unload material to EMS customers
Operate vehicle in compliance with all local, state, federal and company rules and in accordance with generally accepted practices of safe driving
Complete a driver's logbook and vehicle inspection report according to DOT regulations
Inspect vehicle and required equipment to determine safe operating conditions prior to departure
Review shipping papers for nature of load and special handling requirements if any
Check load to determine if it's properly secured and safe
Backup truck to loading platform; turn narrow corners; negotiate narrow passageways; keep truck and trailer under control particularly on wet or icy highways
Wear safety equipment when handling material
Safely load and unload cargo as required
Maintain the truck in a clean and safe manner
Keep tarp clean, neat, folded, and secured on trailer
Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs
