CDL Bus Driver
About The Position
As a LifeWise CDL bus driver, you will provide safe and reliable transportation for public school students and LifeWise volunteers to and from the LifeWise site. The role requires a responsible, punctual driver with a clean driving record who maintains the bus and creates a safe, caring environment for children. Candidates must have a mature personal Christian faith consistent with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith and actively participate in a local church whose doctrine aligns with it. A CDL with a passenger (P) endorsement is required, and the driver must have been continuously licensed for the past three years. A school bus (S) endorsement is preferred. Applicants must be 21–80 years old; drivers over 75 must submit a copy of their CDL license and passenger endorsement annually. Other requirements include passing background, motor vehicle record, and FMCSA Clearinghouse checks; completing required drug and/or alcohol testing; and, for drivers with known medical conditions, obtaining a yearly underwriter-approved Physician's Statement. Drivers must complete LifeWise Academy training. Volunteering in the LifeWise classroom may be undertaken if agreed upon with the director. This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) position. Requirements
- Have a mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
- Actively participate in and be committed to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
- Hold a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a passenger vehicle (P) endorsement.
- Have been continuously licensed for the past three years.
- Be 21–80 years of age.
- Have a clean driving record, with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years.
- Undergo and pass a background check through LifeWise Academy.
- Undergo and pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check and clear the FMCSA Clearinghouse check.
- Complete drug and/or alcohol testing as required, including pre-employment testing, annual random tests, and testing following traffic accidents.
- Drivers with known medical conditions must obtain a yearly underwriter-approved Physician's Statement.
- Drivers over 75 must submit a copy of their CDL license and passenger (P) endorsement annually via support ticket.

Responsibilities
- Transport children and LifeWise volunteers to and from the LifeWise site.
- Obey traffic laws.
- Maintain the cleanliness and mechanical safety of the bus.
- Perform regular bus inspections.
- Refuel the vehicle as needed.
- Create and maintain a safe environment for children.
- Enforce safety rules for students.
- Assist students with entering or exiting the vehicle as needed.
- Demonstrate a calm and caring demeanor.
- Be aware of which students need help or are misbehaving.
- Complete training required by LifeWise Academy.
- Volunteer in the LifeWise classroom if agreed upon with the director.
