The CDL-A New Driver will first complete 3 to 5 weeks (200 to 250 hours) of paid road training alongside a mentor, earning $850 per week. Orientation lasts no more than two days and pays $300 after hiring; a one-way bus ticket is reimbursed with a receipt. After training, the driver operates solo hauling dry van freight on western lanes, across states west of the Mississippi, including Texas and the Midwest. Loads do not go east of the Mississippi and are normally no more than three days from home. Solo drivers average $1,100 to $1,200 per week, with a $1,000 weekly pay guarantee for the first three months as a solo driver, 2,200 to 2,400 weekly miles, and a monthly performance bonus on top of mileage pay. Home time is every three weeks. The fleet consists mostly of late-model Freightliners averaging about a year and a half old, with both automatic and 10-speed transmissions. After training, drivers may bring one approved dog up to 40 pounds, and a rider program is available for solo drivers. Benefits begin after 30 days. The employer is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
