Food and food service delivery drivers support the country’s food supply chain by delivering customers’ products on time and in good condition while building relationships with customers. The driver operates a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes, both intrastate and interstate. The role includes delivering and unloading food and food-related products safely and in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations. This position has a four-day work week, with routes scheduled on a rotating basis from Sunday through Saturday. Dispatch times range from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.; end times vary by route assignment. Depending on business needs and route structure, drivers may work with a partner or independently. Nearly half of the fleet has lift gates to help make deliveries more efficient and reduce the physical demands of unloading. Average weekly earnings after training are $1,700–$1,800, with potential to earn more than $3,000 per week. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is offered subject to terms; people who have worked for a Performance Food Group-owned company within the prior six months are ineligible for this incentive. The company also advertises competitive pay and benefits, growth opportunities, and a safe and inclusive working environment.
