CDL A Driver (Swing)
About The Position
The CDL A Driver transports, removes, delivers, and collects liquid and solid hazardous wastes from customer sites. The role involves loading and unloading trucks and operating equipment that is covered by the driver's license, including vacuum trucks and box trucks, as needed. The driver performs vehicle inspections, handles and secures hazardous waste cargo, maintains required documentation, reports defects and incidents, communicates professionally with customers and coworkers, and helps care for vehicles and equipment. The position may require overtime, weekend work, and participation in a weekly on-call schedule.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A with airbrakes.
- Tanker endorsement required.
- Hazmat endorsement required.
- Ability to operate a manual transmission without restrictions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors.
- Manual dexterity and ability to lift 75+ lbs.
- Overtime as required.
- Weekend work may be required; a weekly on-call schedule is in effect.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections to check vehicle safety, roadworthiness, and mechanical condition.
- Safely maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions.
- Load, unload, and secure liquid and solid hazardous waste in accordance with safety standards and weight and dimension regulations.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, manifests, bills of lading, and service records in compliance with state, federal, DOT, and safety regulations.
- Promptly report mechanical issues, accidents, traffic violations, and vehicle damage to supervision.
- Communicate professionally with coworkers, customers, and the public; provide timely, courteous deliveries and obtain appropriate paperwork sign-offs.
- Keep vehicles clean, promptly clear loading and unloading debris, and report delivery or customer issues to management.
- Assist in training team members when required and perform other duties as assigned.
