Applications for the Clay County Sheriff's Office Cadet Program are being accepted for both Law Enforcement and Detention positions. Selections for each will be based upon meeting minimum qualifications and passing interview results. Responsible for attending an agency-approved Criminal Justice Academy. Incumbent must complete physical training each day (1 hour), classwork and exams on legal issues, policies, procedures, etc., and high-risk class portions (firearms, driving training, etc.). Duties also include following the policies and procedures of the Agency, and performing duties as assigned. Positions will be filled based on interview performance and position availability. Applicants may be selected for either the Law Enforcement Cadet or Detention Cadet position, and placement in the preferred position is not guaranteed. Applicants must be available when required to complete tasks and processes associated with qualifying for these positions. Failure to be available or participate as required may result in disqualification from the selection process. Applicants selected for the Law Enforcement Cadet and Detention Cadet positions must successfully pass a Basic Motor Skills Test (BMST) that meets the standards of the designated Police Academy. Failure to pass the required BMST may result in disqualification from the position.
