About The Position

Interactive College of Technology has an immediate opening for a fulltime Computer-Based Training located at the Newport Campus. The CBT Instructor instructs, mentors, and guides students enrolled in CBT courses to successful completion of all courses according to assigned schedules and course completion dates. This role involves teaching in a laboratory setting, administering and grading examinations, preparing students for certification, and managing student progress and retention.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. Degree in a related area and experience teaching adults.
  • OR A.S. Degree and a minimum of three years’ experience in teaching adults.
  • Must complete a specific training outline within three months.
  • Must achieve all relevant certifications.
  • Responsible for maintaining current industry certifications for courses taught.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs students in the laboratory using approved course syllabi, lesson plans, and course guides.
  • Assists students by moving throughout the laboratory, observing progress, and proactively identifying challenges.
  • Administers all required examinations in a timely manner, evaluates/grades, and provides prompt feedback.
  • Prepares students to take certification examinations.
  • Conducts test prep sessions.
  • Inputs student progress on CBT lessons and courses into the IRIS system daily.
  • Reviews each student's class schedule at the beginning of the semester, ensures understanding, and verifies receipt of required materials.
  • Reviews academic activity/progress weekly, provides counseling and advising, and documents results in the IRIS system.
  • Maintains an advisee load and accepts responsibility for student retention and successful educational outcomes.
  • Keeps all student management sheets current and available for review.
  • Assists with course/program review and revision.
  • Attends necessary faculty and in-service meetings.
  • Completes at least five annual professional development activities.
  • Maintains current industry certifications for courses taught.
  • Assists in ensuring students are adequately prepared for the Externship experience.
  • Visits one to two externship or employer sites per month.
  • Recommends potential Advisory Board Members to Academic Management.
