Scientist- Drug Discovery (CBT)

St. Jude Children's Research HospitalMemphis, TN
$86,320 - $154,960

About The Position

The Department of Chemical Biology and Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated and innovative scientist specialized in drug discovery to join our highly collaborative environment. The incumbent will be responsible for assay design, optimization, and validation using automation, execution of high-throughput small-molecule screening campaigns, and analysis of large, complex datasets to identify and prioritize hit compounds. Experience in both biochemical and cellular assays preferred. The candidate will work in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including biologists, computational and medicinal chemists. Projects will focus on advancing cutting-edge drug discovery programs for childhood catastrophic diseases using the latest approaches in proximity-based targeting. Specifically, based on the mechanistic basis of disease, our goal is to develop unique chemical approaches (protein degraders, synthetic gene regulators and/or functional effectors) to degrade or manipulate targets relevant to pediatric oncology, neurodegenerative disorders and sickle cell disease.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required.
  • Eight (8) years of relevant work experience is required
  • Six (6) years of relevant work experience is required with a Master's degree
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience is required with a PhD
  • Prior experience in relevant lab techniques preferred.
  • Experience in lab and scientific project coordination, maintenance, and other research support activities preferred.
