About The Position

This is a working leadership role overseeing welding and fabrication employees. The Team Lead establishes priorities and directs the work of C-Bay, trains new employees in CB Mining processes and procedures, and helps keep work on schedule and within budget. The role includes coaching employees, evaluating performance and setting improvement goals, ensuring deadlines and efficient work completion, overseeing accurate employee time entry, and maintaining CB Mining safety guidelines. The position requires welding and fabrication experience, the ability to interpret blueprints and layouts for employees, and the ability to perform and oversee heavy-plate fabrication. The Team Lead must also be able to use and instruct employees in carbon arcing, oxy-fuel torch use, and plasma cutting, and oversee overhead-crane operation and safe rigging practices. The employment weld test includes flat and vertical welding on beveled one-inch plate using .045-inch solid wire with 85/15 gas. Test welds are checked for full penetration, then cut and bent on both the face and root sides to check for breakage.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience managing or overseeing welding/fabrication employees.
Proven leadership skills.
Proven welding and fabrication experience.
Vocational-technical school and/or secondary-level trade school training in welding technology.
Knowledge of standard welding practices, methods, materials, tools, equipment, hazards, and safety precautions.
Skilled in FCAW with .045-inch solid wire and 85/15 gas, and SMAW in all positions.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with managers, employees, and other leads.
Ability to maintain consistent, punctual, and regular attendance.
Ability to read blueprints and layouts and accurately interpret them for employees.
Ability to utilize and instruct in carbon arcing, oxy-fuel torch use, and plasma cutting.
Ability to work with and oversee heavy-plate fabrication.
Ability to run and oversee overhead cranes and use safe rigging practices.
Pass the described employment weld test, which checks full penetration and breakage on face-side and root-side bends.
