About The Position

Laredo Technical Services, Inc. (LTSI) is seeking a Catholic Religious Education Coordinator for Hurlburt Chapel at Hurlburt Field, FL. This part-time position involves managing, providing logistical support, and organizing program events for Catholic Religious Education ministries, Sacramental Preparation, and the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA). The coordinator will work an average of 25 hours per week in conjunction with the Catholic Chaplain, ensuring the Catholic Community is informed of any schedule changes. LTSI is a Certified Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) that provides staffing services to federal government agencies.

Requirements

  • Must not be an employee of the Department of the Air Force (military or civilian) unless approved per DoD Directive (DoDD) 5500.7-R.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to efficiently plan and organize, communicate, and manage diverse program requirements.
  • Fluent in reading/comprehending, writing, and speaking English.
  • High School diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Certificate, or compulsory education equivalency.
  • Ability and willingness to provide services in an ecumenical and pluralistic environment.
  • Willingness to adapt to the direction/vision of the Wing Chaplain.
  • Must be or become a practicing member of the Catholic faith at Hurlburt Field.
  • Practical experience (two or more years preferred) leading Religious Education (RE).
  • Proficiency in leadership and management practices in a parish setting.
  • Working knowledge of RE resources and terminology.
  • Must furnish a resume and/or references validating education and experience requirements.
  • Must furnish and/or provide their own transportation to and from the place of employment.
  • Must conform to all Catholic Church Teachings, Archdiocese of Military Service (AMS) Policies (i.e., baptized and confirmed Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church; if married, the marriage must be a Sacramental marriage properly documented by the Church), the Liturgical Renewal of the Second Vatican Council and subsequent norms, and practices approved by the American National Conference of Catholic Bishops as given in the National Catechetical Directory, Sharing the Light of Faith, and Air Force Chaplain Corps policies and guidance.
  • Must provide a statement of one’s Sacramental records along with other applicable documents to verify records.

Responsibilities

  • General coordination and enhancement of religious education programs and events.
  • Administrative and logistical coordination for religious education programs/events, including program development.
  • Coordination of activities with chapel staff, parish members, and volunteers.
  • Assisting in planning, resourcing, and executing the annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) with the Protestant Parish, including submitting an after-action report.
  • Identifying and aligning administrative and logistical support for Catholic religious education ministry needs based on the Annual Ministry Plan, Chaplain Corps Team resourcing, and Catholic Chaplains' requirements.
  • Proposing annual Chapel Tithes and Offerings Fund (CTOF) and Appropriated Fund (APF) budgets.
  • Ensuring RE materials for literature racks and Chaplain counseling bookshelves are resourced with current materials and outdated literature is disposed of.
  • Ensuring all expenditures for Catholic religious education programs are properly requested (no APF purchases by the coordinator).
  • Providing researched items needed for purchase, including location, SKU/model number, amount, cost per unit, and grand total cost.
  • Completing CTOF and APF documents in accordance with local policy and procedures and submitting them for approval.
  • Monitoring and tracking all CTOF funds spent on Catholic religious education programs to ensure expenditures are within budget.
  • Managing religious education funds collected and using them in accordance with AFI 52-105 and local Chapel Operating Instructions.
  • Serving as a customer service representative for the Chapel, answering questions and providing information.
  • Creating or collecting religious education program/event advertisements and coordinating their timely submission.
  • Creating a presentation of religious education advertisements for the Catholic Parish Coordinator.
  • Serving as the central source of information and maintaining continuity files (calendar, budget, records, rosters, after-action reports, background checks, etc.).
  • Organizing and/or assisting in Sacramental Preparation Programs and preparing/transmitting sacramental records.
  • Maintaining and securing a current roster of all religious education leaders/teachers.
  • Assisting the Catholic Chaplain in determining curriculum needs and selecting appropriate curriculum.
  • Preparing and submitting orders for religious education materials.
  • Keeping a consolidated roster of all current curriculum.
  • Maintaining statistical data on weekly religious education programs and events for the Catholic Chaplains’ monthly report.
  • Reviewing all religious education schedules and settling or proposing solutions for scheduling conflicts.
  • Recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers for their respective areas.
  • Collaborating with the Catholic Chaplain to recruit, screen, and train volunteers for Catholic Parish Bible Studies and VBS.
  • Providing a list of specified volunteers working with children under 18.
  • Attending Chapel Staff, Catholic Staff, Parish Advisory Council, and Chapel Financial Working Group (CFWG) meetings as needed.
