About The Position

Laredo Technical Services, Inc. (LTSI) is seeking a Catholic Religious Education Coordinator for Hurlburt Chapel at Hurlburt Field, FL. This role involves managing and supporting Catholic Religious Education ministries, Sacramental Preparation, and the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA). The position requires an average of 25 hours per week, with scheduled changes to be coordinated with the Catholic Chaplain and communicated to the Catholic Community.

Requirements

  • Must not be an employee of the Department of the Air Force (military or civilian) unless approved per DoD Directive (DoDD) 5500.7-R.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to efficiently plan and organize, communicate, and manage diverse program requirements.
  • Read/comprehend, write, and speak English fluently.
  • High School diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Certificate, or compulsory education equivalency.
  • Ability and willingness to provide services in an ecumenical and pluralistic environment.
  • Willingness to adapt to the direction/vision of the Wing Chaplain.
  • Must be or become a practicing member of the Catholic faith at Hurlburt Field.
  • Practical experience (two or more years preferred) leading Religious Education (RE).
  • Proficiency in leadership and management practices in a parish setting.
  • Working knowledge of RE resources and terminology.
  • Furnish a resume and/or references validating education and experience requirements.
  • Furnish and/or provide own transportation to and from the place of employment.
  • Conform to all Catholic Church Teachings, Archdiocese of Military Service (AMS) Policies (baptized and confirmed Catholic in good standing, marriage must be sacramental if applicable), the Liturgical Renewal of the Second Vatican Council, and practices approved by the American National Conference of Catholic Bishops.
  • Provide a statement of Sacramental records along with other applicable documents.

Responsibilities

  • General coordination and enhancement of religious education programs and events.
  • Acquire catechism prior to exercising duties.
  • Administrative and logistical coordination of religious education programs/events, including program development.
  • Coordinate activities with chapel staff, parish members, and volunteers.
  • Assist in planning, resourcing, and executing the annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) with the Protestant Parish, including submitting an after-action report.
  • Identify and align administrative and logistical support for Catholic religious education ministry needs based on the Annual Ministry Plan, Chaplain Corps Team resourcing, and Catholic Chaplains' requirements.
  • Manage Catholic Sunday Schools, Catholic Bible Studies, Catholic Men of the Chapel (CMOC), Catholic Women of the Chapel (CWOC), Catholic Youth of the Chapel (CYOC), Catholic Single Adult Ministries, Catholic Vacation Bible School (VBS), and other Catholic Parish programs/events requiring religious education.
  • Propose annual Chapel Tithes and Offerings Fund (CTOF) and Appropriated Fund (APF) budgets.
  • Ensure religious education literature racks and Chaplain counseling bookshelves are resourced with current materials and outdated literature is disposed of.
  • Ensure all expenditures for Catholic religious education programs are properly requested and that APF purchases are not made by the coordinator.
  • Provide researched items needed for purchase, including location, product SKU/model number, quantity, and cost.
  • Complete CTOF and APF documents in accordance with local policy and procedures and submit them for funding requirements.
  • Monitor and track all CTOF funds spent on Catholic religious education programs to ensure expenditures are within budget.
  • Manage religious education funds collected in accordance with AFI 52-105 and local Chapel Operating Instructions.
  • Serve as a customer service representative for the Chapel, answering questions and providing information.
  • Create or collect religious education program/event advertisements and coordinate them for timely submission.
  • Create a presentation of religious education advertisements for the Catholic Parish Coordinator for display before services and on social media.
  • Serve as the central source of information and maintain continuity files (calendar, budget, records, rosters, after-action reports, background checks, etc.).
  • Organize and/or assist in Sacramental Preparation Programs and transmit all sacramental records for the Archdiocese of Military Service.
  • Maintain and secure a current roster of all religious education leaders/teachers, protecting privacy information.
  • Assist the Catholic Chaplain in determining curriculum needs and selecting appropriate curriculum.
  • Prepare and submit orders for religious education materials.
  • Keep a consolidated roster of all current curriculum, including name, start date, expiration date, and users.
  • Maintain statistical data on weekly religious education programs and events for the Catholic Chaplains’ monthly report.
  • Review all religious education schedules and resolve scheduling conflicts.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for their respective areas.
  • Assist in recruiting, screening, and training volunteers for Catholic Parish Bible Studies and VBS.
  • Provide a list of specified volunteers working with children under 18.
  • Attend Chapel Staff, Catholic Staff, Parish Advisory Council, and Chapel Financial Working Group (CFWG) meetings as needed.
