About The Position

Regina Caeli Academy is seeking a part-time Catholic assistant for their Nursery and PK2 room for up to 15 hours per week during the 2026-27 academic year. This role is located in Sterling Heights, Michigan. No teaching certification or formal teaching experience is required, as training will be provided. The ideal candidate may have experience in homeschooling, working with homeschool children, parish ministry, teaching Religious Education or Catechism, teaching their own children, or teaching in a classical or private school. Regina Caeli Academy is a classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition, offering instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting on Mondays and Thursdays. The positions are hourly, and childcare/nursery is provided. Employees are expected to adhere to the academy's vacation and holy days policy, with accommodations made for sick days. Applicants must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church and demonstrate a deep love for the Catholic faith. Curriculum and grading guidelines will be provided, and tutors will be trained in instruction and classroom management according to RCA standards. The ideal applicant should possess strong communication skills, good organization, timeliness, a traditional view of the student/teacher relationship, and must be actively living the Catholic faith, including having received all appropriate sacraments. All staff must complete a background check and RCA Safe Child training before teaching.

Requirements

• Must be available to attend one mandatory training day on August 7, 8, or 11, 2026 (TBD) prior to working in the classroom (8am-5pm).
• Must complete a background check.
• Must complete RCA Safe Child training prior to teaching.
