About The Position

Laredo Technical Services, Inc. (LTSI) is seeking a Catholic Musician to support the Chapel Support Services at Hurlburt Chapel, Hurlburt Field, FL. This role involves playing piano for Sunday Mass and other liturgical services, arranging and leading music, and directing the Catholic Choir. LTSI is a Certified Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) that provides staffing services to federal government agencies worldwide.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience playing an instrument in a Catholic worship team.
  • Ability to sing.
  • Ability to sight-read music.
  • Ability to accompany and direct musical selections.
  • Responsible for playing piano for Sunday Catholic Mass.
  • Attend rehearsals.
  • Prepare service instrument and equipment requirements.
  • Perform other program musical playing elements to provide a respectable Mass experience.

Responsibilities

  • Play piano or organ for Sunday Mass and other liturgical services as selected by the Catholic Chaplain.
  • Ensure all worship music and media comply with copyright, reproduction, and license agreements.
  • Attend one rehearsal per week prior to Sunday Mass and Catholic Holy Days of Obligation and/or Special Masses.
  • Play piano for Catholic Holy Days of Obligation and Special Masses, including Confirmation, All Saints’ Day, Thanksgiving Day Vigil, Advent, Penance, Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Christmas Vigil, Children’s Mass, Midnight Mass, Christmas Day Mass, New Year’s Vigil, New Year’s Day Service, Ash Wednesday, Lent, Penance, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday Vigil, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and Memorials.
  • Attend liturgy and music planning meetings and collaborate with other choir directors and musicians to enhance music quality.
  • Coordinate support requirements for the program with the Catholic Chaplain.
  • Complete Chapel Tithes and Offerings Fund (CTOF) and Appropriated Funds (APF) documents for funding requirements specific to the contracted position.
  • Be responsible for the care and use of Chapel musical instruments and equipment.
  • Notify the service Chaplain of any needed maintenance or repairs for musical instruments.
  • Receive training and become proficient with Chapel sound boards/systems within 30 days of the performance start date.
  • Be present at least 30 minutes prior to each mass or chapel service and 15 minutes before each rehearsal.
  • Set up and take down all necessary items for rehearsals and worship services.
  • Ensure areas used are properly secured upon completion of rehearsals and worship services.
  • Communicate with chaplains, priests, song/worship leaders, and other musicians to ensure a coordinated service of worship.
  • Plan and coordinate all musical selections with the Priest or designated representative at least 7 days prior to the worship service or performance.
  • Fulfill duties during scheduled Catholic Sunday Masses, Catholic Holy Days of Obligation, Special Masses, and all coinciding rehearsals.
  • Perform an average of 206 units per year, where a unit equals one rehearsal or one service.
