About The Position

The Catering to You - Patient Dining Associate assists patients with menu selections and works hand-in-hand with the Food and Nutrition Department. The associate works closely with clinical staff to understand patients’ nutrition needs and requirements, then uses that knowledge to address specific patient requests while ensuring meals are nutritious and satisfactory.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, and/or completion of a GED-equivalent program.
Customer service skills.
Proficiency with basic computer skills.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs.
Strong accountability for improving the lives of patients and their caregivers.
Strong focus on teamwork.
Dedication to ongoing education.
Ability and passion to deliver high-quality care with a strong patient focus.

Food service experience.

Responsibilities

Maintains accurate and current information for each patient on assigned units.
Demonstrates knowledge of modified diets, appropriate condiments, and related dietary restrictions by passing a written test provided by clinical staff; reports patients’ understanding of their diets to the Dietitian or Diet Technician.
Assists the Dietitian with monitoring patients who are NPO, on liquid diets, or require intake to be recorded.
Adapts accurately and effectively to physician-ordered modified patient diets and ensures timely service while providing quality patient customer service.
Assists patients with menu selections and works with the Food and Nutrition Department to assemble selected meals on trays and deliver and pick up meal trays.
Communicates patient- or resident-related problems to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Adheres to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
