About The Position

Proof of the Pudding, an award-winning catering company, is seeking Catering Supervisors for DUKE University Athletics. This role involves providing Front of House leadership and strong customer service for events at DUKE University. The company offers competitive pay and on-the-job training. This is seasonal/part-time work, with hours dictated by athletic event schedules.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience leading a food & beverage team.
  • Experience in a related position.
  • Knowledge of banquets and Front of House duties.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including Windows and Microsoft Office, & BEO Software.
  • Knowledge of or readiness to learn applicable laws and regulations impacting food and beverage operations and service.
  • ServSafe certified or available to receive training.
  • Live within or near Durham, NC.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Renowned time management and organization skills.
  • Strong Customer Service skills with the desire to go above and beyond a client’s needs.
  • Ability to work alone and as a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to learn and adapt quickly.

Nice To Haves

  • Positions such as Lead Server, Banquet Supervisor, or Floor Captain would translate well into this role.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a lead in the food service area and a point of contact for guests and clients.
  • Ensure accurate setting of tables/buffets according to diagrams and/or sample tables.
  • Manage time effectively to ensure all BEO items are completed prior to service times.
  • Delegate tasks to team members based on their positions and talents.
  • Manage the team scheduled to run each event.
  • Work with the Catering Director to hire and train qualified staff.
  • Assist with day-to-day duties and monitor staff and banquet operations.
  • Ensure clients are communicated with and checked on throughout the event.
  • Maintain good grooming and personal hygiene.
  • Implement controls for labor and operating expenses as directed.
  • Oversee equipment distribution, inventory tracking, organization, and clean up of events.
  • Act as a managerial presence at various events.
  • Report to the Catering Director and perform assigned tasks to execute flawless events.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
