About The Position

The primary responsibility of the Catering Sales Manager is to book, coordinate, and assist in executing all aspects of function planning necessary to ensure client satisfaction; this includes but is not limited to recreation arrangements, meeting set up, meal functions, room reservations and group billing. The Catering Sales Manager is expected to enhance the reputation and profitability of the department to maximize revenues and control labor expenses. The Catering Sales Manager is expected to exceed budgeted revenues while maintaining budgeted payroll and food and beverage expenses. He/she must act as liaison between client and operating departments to ensure a successful meeting and generate repeat business.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a sales or catering/convention services department.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications is required.
  • Experience with Delphi software is required.
  • Ability to travel to attend workshops, tradeshows, conventions, etc.
  • Ability to work on an on-call basis.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must possess an ability to work with minimal supervision and make educated ethical decisions as necessary.
  • Must be able to resolve conflicts and have effective communication skills with all levels of employees and be able to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to work independently, prepare detailed professional correspondence, memoranda, policies, procedures as well as regulations related to the employee’s duties.
  • A general knowledge of the Windows based computer operating systems is also required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Food & Beverage catering/banquet revenue budget, including corporate meetings, social gatherings and weddings – by building strong client relationships and executing seamless event planning.
  • Responsible for creating promotional/seasonal packages and programs.
  • Manage banquets, events presentation and execution.
  • Answers sales catering phone calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Creates contracts and banquet event orders using Delphi software.
  • Distributes department information as appropriate, providing effective communication to all departments of banquet activity (Banquet Event Orders, catering information, event signage, etc.)
  • Acts as a liaison between the Hotel Sales Department & Food & Beverage Department.
  • Works closely with the Food & Beverage Team to achieve/exceed guest expectations on catering requirements, menu installation and pricing.
  • Uses properties standard policies and procedures to guide, develop, implement, maintain and enforce operational procedures.
  • Assists in coordinating conference details and guestrooms pertaining to assigned groups and events.
  • Responds to client requests during banquet functions to minimize confusion and resolve problems such as space adjustment, guest services issues and/or need for additional equipment.
  • Direct, attends and participates in weekly Banquet Event Order meetings.
  • Sends event follow-up correspondence to clients.
  • Assists with other duties and projects as assigned by Food & Beverage management.
