About The Position

The Catering Sales Manager is a new addition to our established and growing Sales, Catering and Marketing department. This is an on-site role responsible for generating catering revenue through the solicitation, planning, and execution of social events, corporate meetings, private dining experiences, and group functions for a luxury boutique hotel. This role serves as the primary liaison between clients and hotel operations to ensure exceptional service delivery, seamless event execution, and achievement of revenue goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of sales, catering experience in a hotel or restaurant environment.
  • Strong understanding of food and beverage operations, banquet service, and event planning.
  • Proven ability to generate revenue and close sales opportunities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple events and deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands require.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the hotel and event spaces.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20lbs
  • Ability to attend evening and weekend events as require.
  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and move throughout event spaces and hotel facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Marketing or related field, preferred.
  • Previous luxury hotel experience, preferred.
  • Proficiency with hotel sales and catering systems such as Delphi, CI/TY, Opera or similar platforms, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit new catering business through prospecting, networking, referrals, site tours, and community involvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with corporate clients, wedding planners, event organizers, destination management companies, and local businesses.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries, proposals, and client communications.
  • Conduct property tours and present event spaces, guest rooms, and catering offerings to prospective clients.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and event details while maximizing revenue opportunities.
  • Achieve or exceed quarterly and annual catering sales goals.
  • Coordinate all aspects of assigned events from contract through execution and post-event follow-up.
  • Prepare banquet event orders (BEOs), room diagrams, and event documentation accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the planning process.
  • Collaborate with culinary, banquet, front office, housekeeping, and engineering teams to ensure flawless event execution.
  • Conduct pre-conference and pre-event meetings with operational departments as needed.
  • Ensure all events reflect the hotel’s luxury service standards and personalized guest experience.
  • Manage catering sales pipeline and maintain accurate account information within the hotel’s sales system or CRM.
  • Monitor event profitability and upselling opportunities including audiovisual, food and beverage enhancements, guest rooms, and ancillary services.
  • Prepare weekly sales activity reports, forecasts, and production updates.
  • Ensure contracts, deposits, billing instructions, and event details are completed accurately and timely.
  • Participate in revenue strategy discussions and contribute to overall hotel sales initiatives.
  • Maintain a visible presence during events to ensure client satisfaction and operational excellence.
  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Foster positive working relationships across all hotel departments.
  • Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and luxury hospitality standards at all times.
  • All other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by leadership.
