About The Position

Sodexo is seeking an energetic, organized, and hospitality-driven Catering Manager 3 to lead catering operations at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of catering services, from client engagement and event planning to execution and financial performance. The ideal candidate is a proven leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, delivers exceptional customer service, and has a passion for creating memorable experiences for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and campus guests. SodexoMagic is the joint venture partnership between NBA Hall of Famer, Earvin “Magic” Johnson and Sodexo. This strategic alliance enables us to deliver creative solutions to our clients along with our local partners throughout the communities we serve. For almost 20 years, we have provided top-level food, facilities management and integrated services to corporations, healthcare facilities, K-12 schools, colleges, universities and aviation lounges.

Requirements

  • Hospitality, banquet, event management, or food service leadership experience;
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple events simultaneously in a high-volume environment;
  • Strong client relations, communication, and organizational skills;
  • Experience with event planning, catering sales, and customer relationship management;
  • Financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost controls;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and catering/event management systems.
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years Minimum Management Experience
  • 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily catering operations for a variety of campus events, including executive meetings, student functions, athletic events, conferences, and special occasions;
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for catering clients, ensuring a seamless planning and execution process;
  • Coordinate event logistics, staffing, menu selections, setup, service, and post-event follow-up;
  • Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, hospitality, and customer satisfaction;
  • Manage catering budgets, labor costs, inventory, and operational expenses to achieve financial goals;
  • Collaborate with culinary, retail, and marketing teams to promote catering services and identify revenue growth opportunities.
