About The Position

The Catering Director is a one year leadership role overseeing Brock University’s catering program, ensuring exceptional hospitality experiences across campus. This term position is ideal for a dynamic, hands on leader who thrives in event based environments and enjoys shaping service standards, building client relationships, and guiding a high performing team. Aramark's culinary experiences and well-maintained environments are fundamental to student success. Requirements

  • 3+ years of catering or events experience, including 1–3 years in a leadership role
  • Strong background in event planning, catering operations, or hospitality management
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team in a fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of current culinary and event trends
  • Ability to work event based hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Food Handlers and Alcohol Service Certifications (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Develop customized catering solutions that meet the needs of campus clients and elevate the guest experience.
  • Build strong rapport with university departments, student groups, and external partners to ensure seamless communication and exceptional service delivery.
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of events of varied size and scope, ensuring consistency, creativity, and quality in every detail.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and mentor catering staff, fostering a culture of hospitality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide clear Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), ensure accurate production and presentation, and maintain compliance with food safety, occupational safety, and environmental standards.
  • Manage catering budgets, monitor food and labor targets, and ensure accurate reporting of revenue, expenses, and receivables.
  • Assist clients in planning special events, offering creative, practical solutions that enhance the overall experience.
  • Conduct walkthroughs, maintain equipment and work areas, and ensure all catering standards, recipes, and presentation guides are followed.
