About The Position

Bon Appétit Management Company is hiring an on-call Catering Captain at Biola University in La Mirada, California. The role coordinates catering staff schedules and supports the timely delivery, service, and clearing of catered functions. Under the supervision of the Catering Director, the Catering Captain prepares and serves food, and may drive a truck to deliver food and beverages. The schedule is on call, with days and hours varying. The fixed pay rate is $35.00 per hour.

Requirements

Previous catering experience is required.
A valid driver's license may be required.
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid food handler's permit and/or alcohol servers permit where required by state law.

Responsibilities

Determine workload requirements from catering orders.
Meet with function group leaders to discuss setup arrangements, address last-minute changes, and resolve problems.
Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a service-oriented manner.
Demonstrate complete understanding of menu items.
Instruct staff on work expectations for catered functions.
Help staff set up rooms to desired specifications.
Assemble and deliver food and supplies to scheduled locations.
Serve food and beverages to guests.
Return food, beverages, serving equipment, and utensils to the catering facility.
Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and serving-temperature maintenance while following HACCP standards.
Maintain sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies, and utensils.
Ensure proper food preparation by following approved recipes and production standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
