About The Position
The Catering Captain coordinates catering staff schedules to ensure functions are delivered, served, and cleared in a timely manner. Under the supervision of the Catering Director, the captain prepares and serves food at scheduled functions and may drive a truck to deliver food and beverages. The role is based at Intuit Credit Karma in Oakland, California, and is scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The listed pay range is $30.00 to $35.00 per hour.
Requirements
- A valid driver's license may be required.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid food handler's permit and/or alcohol servers permit where required by state law.
Nice To Haves
- Previous catering captain experience is preferred; training may be provided.
Responsibilities
- Determine workload requirements from catering orders.
- Meet with function group leaders to discuss setup arrangements, address last-minute changes, and resolve problems.
- Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a service-oriented manner.
- Demonstrate a complete understanding of menu items.
- Instruct staff on work expectations for catered functions.
- Help staff set up rooms to desired specifications.
- Assemble and deliver food and supplies to scheduled locations.
- Serve food and beverages to guests.
- Return food, beverages, serving equipment, and utensils to the catering facility.
- Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures, and follow HACCP standards.
- Maintain the sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies, and utensils.
- Ensure proper food preparation by following approved recipes and production standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
