Catering Attendant
About The Position
The Catering Attendant is a part-time, event-based role at CarMax Park, home of the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The primary season runs from April through September, and the posting also notes hiring for winter events through December 2026. The attendant directs and responds to guests, understands menu offerings, and ensures food is delivered promptly and displayed and maintained appropriately. The role includes setting up and breaking down stadium events, maintaining service areas, following food-safety and sanitation practices, and providing responsible alcohol service. The attendant helps guests get situated, uses suggestive selling and upselling techniques, processes sales checks through the point-of-sale system, completes post-event inventory and restocking, and reports guest incidents to supervisors. The position requires substantial mobility and physical activity, including standing and walking for extended periods and moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods and actively engage physically with guests.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to react with physical and mental alertness in emergency situations.
- Physical stamina and agility to remain mobile for long periods throughout the day.
- Ability to lift or move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to move from sitting to standing easily and quickly.
Responsibilities
- Ensure food and beverage are properly displayed and maintained throughout events.
- Know all menu offerings.
- Set up and break down stadium events, completing responsibilities within provided timelines.
- Build rapport with guests and use suggestive selling and upselling techniques.
- Determine where guests would like to eat and help them get situated.
- Perform post-event product inventory and restock as needed.
- Create, modify, and close sales checks in the point-of-sale system.
- Report guest incidents to superiors.
- Understand event paperwork and reports.
- Adhere to location appearance guidelines and maintain service areas.
- Follow safety and sanitation practices and responsible alcohol service policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
