About The Position

The Grande Colonial, an iconic 97 room hotel located in La Jolla, is seeking a Catering and Event Specialist to join our Sales team. The Catering and Event Specialist will play a vital role in assisting guests create their corporate or social events.

Requirements

  • Associate's or equivalent from a two-year college and/or 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in hospitality or related field and/or prior catering/event planning and detailing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Director of Sales and Catering Sales Manager with administrative duties including but not limited to word processing, account data entry management, customer follow-up, maintains files, updates catering menus, and communicates with culinary and banquet staff.
  • Act as the main service liaison for in-house group meetings and catering events.
  • Call, email, and follow up with clients to plan guest room blocks, menu details, set up details, audio visual orders while adhering to all catering guidelines.
  • Manages the contracted room block and drafts and distributes group resumes.
  • Drafts and secures signed banquet event orders.
  • Upsells food and beverage menu items and audio visual to suit the clients needs.
