About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position provides food, beverages and equipment for special events. It involves gathering all food and supplies, transporting and setting up food service events, and assisting in clean-up after events. The role also includes monitoring and maintaining quality control of food and equipment, restocking supplies, and cleaning and sanitizing food service areas. The caterer will display strong customer service skills, the ability to work under stressful conditions, and creative skills to attractively present food items. Good listening skills and effective communication with supervisors, co-workers, customers, and staff are essential. The position requires the ability to follow written and oral directions and establish effective working relationships. Maintaining quality control standards and operating various food service equipment are key responsibilities. Depending on the location, adherence to standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines may be required. Experience in the food industry and the ability to work independently are preferred. An understanding of food safety and sanitation processes is necessary, as is the ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk far distances.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience working in the food industry.
A minimum of two years experience in a catering environment preferred (depending upon location).
A current valid driver’s license and meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category III drivers (depending on location).

Responsibilities

Provides food, beverages and equipment for special events.
Gathers all food and supplies.
Transports and sets up food service events.
Assists in clean-up after events.
Monitors and maintains quality control of food and equipment.
Restocks supplies.
Cleans and sanitizes food service areas.
Operates equipment such as, but not limited to, cold holding equipment, hot holding equipment, beverage machines, catering tables/carts, convection and combination ovens and dish washing machines.
Follows standardized recipes and Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines (depending on location).
Works independently when necessary.
Demonstrates ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk far distances.
