About The Position

The Wisconsin Union, founded in 1907 and serving as the living room of the UW-Madison campus since 1928, enhances the lives of members and visitors through shared cultural, social, and recreational events and experiences. This role supports the food service operations within the Pyle Center, contributing to the Union's mission of connecting the campus community.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the success of the Wisconsin Union.
  • Promote respect and practice civility in the workplace.
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds and push or pull 100 pound carts.
  • Follow all safety procedures and attend required health, safety and security trainings
  • Must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or high school (at least 16).
  • If school is in break period (summer, spring, winter), applicants must intend to enroll in courses the following semester.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to work weekday mornings or early afternoons is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieving, restocking, and replenishing food and supplies
  • Prepare and present food items for buffets and meals
  • Clean and prepare work and storage areas
  • Attend to customer's food and beverage needs during a catered event
  • Set up and take down serving lines, tables, or portable units
  • Clean, slice, and season ingredients
  • Help prepare for the next day's production
  • Assist permanent food service staff with preparing a variety of hot and cold foods (i.e. salads, sandwiches, appetizers, baked goods, pre-dishing meals, etc.)
