We are hiring a Category Assistant – In the “Over the Counter” department. Reporting directly to the Category Director, the incumbent supports all product and financial processes associated with category management and assists in the general administration and management of categories and suppliers. The incumbent maintains the data for the flyers and all supporting documents, data retrieval and analysis for planograms, reviews and supplier meetings.

  • Proficiency in spreadsheets, reporting and data management, with the ability to analyze and interpret business information.
  • Ability to learn and work effectively with category management, merchandising and enterprise systems.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, including editing and proofreading.
  • Professionalism, tact and diplomacy when working with vendors, colleagues and senior leaders.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and with individuals with diverse working styles.
  • Understanding of category management and merchandising practices and principles.
  • Curiosity about the Health and OTC business, customers and emerging category trends.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and timely product, vendor, sales and financial information to support category management activities and weekly performance reporting.
  • Coordinate product listings and vendor documentation, ensuring required information is complete, accurate and current.
  • Support flyer, merchandising and seasonal programs by coordinating activity, estimates, sales, deal and retail information.
  • Review and validate flyer and seasonal marketing content, identifying discrepancies and coordinating required corrections.
  • Compile, analyze and summarize category data to support category reviews, planograms, supplier meetings and business decisions.
  • Coordinate information from vendors and internal partners to support seasonal programs and merchandising initiatives.
  • Prepare and distribute clear, timely communications to stores regarding category programs, changes and required actions.
  • Partner with Marketing, Planogram, Logistics, Inventory, Promotions and other teams to identify and resolve category-related issues.
  • Respond to routine inquiries and escalate exceptions or issues requiring category management judgment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve category processes, data quality and ways of working.
