Assistant Category Manager
About The Position
As a member of our Merchandising + Pro Sales team at Mulhalls Garden + Home, you’ll report to the Category Manager within the Home Division. You’ll work closely with them to manage the day-to-day details of your assigned categories. You’ll help turn merchandising strategies into action by managing orders, maintaining product and assortment information, creating and setting planograms, and keeping our merchandising tools and systems up to date. You’ll also help monitor sales, inventory, and product availability, follow up on orders, and support the Category Manager with reporting, item maintenance, and other category needs – all in line with our vision to be the most loved plant shop in the country.
Requirements
- An interest in and awareness of evolving trends
- A strong sense of urgency and the ability to initiate action without daily direction
- An ability to multitask and keep several projects running at one time
- Attention to detail, with an eagerness to learn and to solve problems
- An ability to think critically and analytically
- An ability to use various software applications
- Excel proficiency highly encouraged (yes, you’ll use Excel all the time)
Responsibilities
- Help shape an assortment customers love by maintaining accurate product information, staying on top of market trends, and identifying opportunities that support smart merchandising decisions
- Keep products flowing by executing accurate replenishment, managing open orders, resolving inventory and invoice issues, and ensuring Pro customers can get the products they need
- Bring the merchandise strategy to life through compelling floor sets, planograms, displays, promotions, and seasonal transitions that create an inspiring shopping experience
- Pitch in when needed to support the sales floor, events, orders, and the broader business
