The Opportunity We’re looking for a high‑impact Casualty Underwriter Specialist to join our Global Corporate & Specialty Risk division—an exciting portfolio that spans large corporate accounts (with or without international exposure) and complex mid‑market primary or monoline excess/umbrella casualty risks. In this role, you’ll take the lead on underwriting new and renewal business, partnering closely with brokers and clients while driving the continued growth of our GCS portfolio across Canada. Requirements

  • 10+ years of technical commercial lines business experience.
  • Established presence in the Toronto Insurance market among brokers and risk managers.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to build trusted, long‑standing relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Strong negotiation abilities and confidence in decision-making.
  • A proactive problem solver who thrives both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A customer-first mindset with a passion for elevating the broker and client experience.
  • A professional, positive attitude and desire to contribute to a strong team culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead underwriting for Corporate and Specialty Risk accounts, delivering both disciplined risk selection and profitable growth.
  • Assess and underwrite risks on both a big‑picture and detailed level to ensure strong top‑line and bottom-line outcomes.
  • Build strong, productive relationships with brokers and clients—finding win‑win solutions for all.
  • Deliver exceptional service with responsiveness, expertise, and professionalism.
  • Navigate, maintain, and leverage Salesforce to support pipeline and portfolio management.
  • Collaborate with underwriters across product lines to ensure seamless coordination on complex accounts.
  • Follow risk governance, guidelines, and control procedures to uphold underwriting excellence.
