About The Position

First Chicago Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Casualty Claims Specialist to investigate and settle automobile bodily injury claims. The role handles complex liability claims requiring greater investigation and verification, including severe-injury casualty claims that may involve extended disability or bodily injury, as well as coverage-related litigation. The specialist reviews assigned files, investigates and documents claims, processes bodily injury and coverage claims, coordinates with relevant parties, evaluates claims for settlement authority, and manages expenses.

Requirements

3–5 years of casualty claims experience.
Knowledge of legal and medical terminology.
Excellent negotiation, communication, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to pass written examinations where required by state statutes to become a licensed claims adjuster.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

Review each assigned file and determine a course of action using technical knowledge and experience to support the final disposition of the loss.
Conduct thorough investigations and maintain accurate, relevant documentation of claim activity, including applicable coverage, liability status, and damages.
Process bodily injury and coverage claims in accordance with established office procedures.
Work with third parties, plaintiff counsel, the Claim Director, and the Chief Operating Officer to determine necessary injury and coverage investigations.
Research case law and statutory law to conduct proper claim investigations.
Document policy status, coverage, liability, and damages on all claims, and notify the reinsurer on qualifying claims.
Prepare and present claim evaluations for the appropriate settlement authority.
Maintain reasonable expense factors.
Perform other duties as assigned.
