Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of claims handling experience.
• Proficiency with basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications.
• Obtain and maintain state licensing where applicable.
• Initiative, sound judgment, and discretion.
• Comprehensive understanding of insurance policies and relevant state laws and regulations governing auto insurance claims.
• Time management skills to meet claim-resolution deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate claim information, assess damages, and make informed liability and settlement decisions.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate unrepresented casualty, physical damage, and property damage claims of varying complexity using investigative tools and following claims, state regulatory, and departmental guidelines.
• Develop strategies to identify and resolve coverage, liability, injury, and property damage claims efficiently and accurately.
• Research injuries and interpret applicable statutory provisions and case law.
• Review medical records, bills, and other information to determine general and special damages.
• Maintain rapport with claimants and insureds, keeping them informed about the claim process and resolution options.
• Review policy provisions, endorsements, and other records to verify coverage and make financial decisions within authority limits.
• Document claim progress thoroughly and set bodily injury reserves to maintain accurate, organized records.
• Collaborate with other departments to move claims toward final resolution.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
