About The Position

Peterson Trucks is hiring a Casual Help/Delivery Driver at its San Martin, California location. This is a limited-duration job lasting six months or less. The driver operates a passenger truck to deliver parts and products, provide services, and conduct customer transactions. Duties include collecting payment, making change, recording transactions, preparing orders and sales contracts, and communicating customer instructions and service complaints. The role also includes loading and unloading merchandise, routine truck maintenance, and keeping the truck interior clean.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, and one year of driving experience and three to six months of customer service experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability to load truck parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
Effective communication skills, including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills for working with customers and coworkers.

Responsibilities

Drive a company truck safely to deliver parts to customers’ places of business.
Collect customer payments, make change, and record transactions on customer receipts.
Write customer orders, including customer instructions.
Record sales or delivery information on daily records.
Prepare order forms and sales contracts.
Listen to and relay service complaints to a supervisor.
Collect or pick up empty containers, rejected merchandise, or unsold merchandise.
Load the truck with parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
Obtain customer signatures on receipts for pickups or deliveries.
Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
Perform routine truck maintenance, check lights, water, and oil, and keep the inside of the truck clean.
Work collaboratively in a team environment.
Communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
Take direction respectfully from a supervisor or manager.
