About The Position

This role combines technical expertise in tool & die design as well as high pressure die casting processes with strong project management skills to coordinate cross-functional teams, manage timelines, budget, suppliers, and ensure tooling meets quality, cost, and performance targets. The engineer oversees tool design reviews, development, validation, and continuous improvement efforts in fast pace and large scale powertrain and structural programs. Expertise in designing and developing new dies for high-pressure die casting from concept to launch.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Minimum 8 of years of experience in die casting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as Tooling engineer or similar.
  • Tool & Die manufacturing with global standards knowledge
  • Practical experience in die trouble shooting and improvements
  • Project management capabilities
  • Candidates should be willing to travel upto 70% of the time.
  • Strong analytical and computer Skills
  • Leadership, problem solving, proactive mindset, high sense of urgency
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software, SolidWorks, CATIA or similar

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in large structural casting process knowledge will be beneficial
  • Knowledge in die heat treatment, metallurgy and coating processes
  • Familiarity with six sigma analysis

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of global standards for die materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Hands-on experience in die maintenance and tool room equipment.
  • Strong understanding of die casting processes and ability to resolve production-related issues.
  • Manage die development and design for manufacturing in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Handle SOW/RFQ preparation and drive procurement processes.
  • Implement global best practices for die maintenance.
  • Develop and update tooling standards and quality documentation.
  • Support design of experiments during launch and troubleshooting phases.
  • Address die-related issues to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Lead die life monitoring, improvement initiatives, engineering changes and periodic maintenance plans.
  • Drive cost-effective solutions for die manufacturing and upkeep.
  • Collaborate with the spares team to manage critical die spares.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce downtime through quick die change improvements.
  • Support team development through training and upskilling.
