About The Position

The Tool Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing tooling, manufacturing processes, part progressions, and detailed tooling drawings required to produce fasteners that meet customer print specifications and industry standards. This role will also support the identification and implementation of process improvements aimed at increasing production rates, extending tooling life, and enhancing part quality. This position will work closely with the Forming, Tooling, and Wire Processing departments to ensure optimal tool performance and consistent quality.

Requirements

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
Two (2) years’ experience with 3D design software, i.e. SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future.
Candidates must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

Basic knowledge of nut/bolt cold forming principles
Experience in tool design, mechanical design, or a related manufacturing engineering role
Hands‑on experience with tooling, dies, fixtures, or cold‑forming processes
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
