Casting Operator I
About The Position
The Casting Operator I applies paste to grids to create plates that help batteries hold their charge. The role loads raw materials into machines and manually moves materials to and from machines. The operator assists with monitoring pasting machine function, inspects products, records production data, and operates a forklift to move materials. The position requires compliance with lead health and hygiene protocols, hazard communication procedures, ergonomic recommendations, and safety procedures. The work involves lifting 50–80 pounds, standing for long periods, working in extreme temperatures and a heavy manufacturing environment, and wearing required personal protective equipment, including a respirator.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Ability to work in a lead-acid battery manufacturing plant.
- Six months to two years of manufacturing or plant experience.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures and a heavy environment.
- Must be clean shaven.
- Ability to use hand tools and learn specific machine controls and gauges.
- Commitment to safety excellence and ability to wear all required personal protective equipment, including a respirator.
- Ability to lift 50–80 pounds and stand for long periods.
Responsibilities
- Apply the appropriate paste to grids to create plates that help batteries hold their charge.
- Load raw materials into machines.
- Manually move materials on and off machines and to and from machines.
- Assist the operator in monitoring pasting machine function.
- Perform visual inspections for quality and quantity and enter data into a data collector.
- Operate a forklift to move materials and complete required documentation.
- Follow lead health and hygiene protocols, hazard communication procedures, ergonomic recommendations, and safety procedures.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment, including a respirator.
- Lift 50–80 pounds and stand for long periods.
