About The Position

The Caster plays a crucial role in ensuring the production of high-quality metalwork. This position involves cleaning and prepping casting flasks, using a heat gun and shrink wrap for mold preparation, and pickling silver to remove oxidation and impurities. The role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of metal casting processes, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Caster is essential to maintaining smooth operations and producing flawless metal casts.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in a production environment, preferably in metal casting or foundry work.
  • Familiarity with investment casting techniques, wax pattern handling, and ceramic mold preparation.
  • Ability to ensure precision during tree assembly and mold preparation to prevent defects in the casting process.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, work in hot environments, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to handle physical workloads, including working with hand tools and repetitive tasks.
  • Knowledge of different metals and alloys used in investment casting.
  • Experience with mold coating techniques and ceramic material handling.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented production environment while maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Eager to take on responsibility with a personal sense of accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Dip assembled trees into ceramic slurries and apply silica-based coatings to build the mold shell, ensuring sufficient layers for casting.
  • Clean and prepare casting flasks, removing dust, oils, and contaminants to ensure defect-free surfaces.
  • Utilize a heat gun and shrink wrap to seal and prepare casting flasks for the production process.
  • Handle molten metals with care and precision to ensure safe and accurate casting.
  • Immerse cast silver pieces in a pickling solution to remove oxidation, flux residue, and tarnish.
  • Rinse and neutralize silver pieces after pickling to ensure a clean, polished finish.
  • Inspect molds, flasks, and finished casts for defects, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of production and process improvements.
