About The Position

The Cashiering Manager in the mortgage industry plays a key role in managing the day-to-day cash handling operations, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions, and leading a team of supervisors/cashiers. This position involves overseeing cashiering processes, implementing security measures, and collaborating with internal departments to maintain smooth operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in cashiering or financial transactions within the mortgage industry.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with customers, team members, and management effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions.
  • Understanding of security measures and risk management practices related to cash handling in the mortgage industry.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer, calculator, and other office equipment.
  • Occasional movement about inside the office to walk to offices and office machinery.
  • Periodic lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to push, pull, pull up, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, grasp and hold tools and other items with hands, for either extended periods of time or many times throughout the workday.

  • Additional education in finance, business, or a related field is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily cash handling operations related to mortgage payments, escrow transactions, and other financial transactions.
  • Ensure adherence to established policies and procedures for accurate and secure processing.
  • Lead and manage a team of cashiers, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback.
  • Schedule and organize cashier shifts to ensure adequate coverage during peak periods.
  • Monitor and manage cash handling procedures, including the reconciliation of daily transactions and ensuring accurate posting to mortgage accounts.
  • Conduct regular audits to verify the accuracy of cash transactions.
  • Ensure that customers receive excellent service during cash transactions.
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Implement and enforce security measures to safeguard against theft, fraud, and other risks.
  • Work with security teams to enhance the overall safety and security of cash handling processes.
  • Collaborate with mortgage servicing, accounting, and finance teams to address any discrepancies and streamline cashiering processes.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure smooth cross-functional operations.
  • Develop and conduct training programs for cashiers to enhance their knowledge of cashiering procedures, customer service, and security protocols.
  • Stay informed about industry changes and update the team accordingly.
  • Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies related to cash transactions promptly and effectively.
  • Regular, reliable and predictable onsite attendance is an essential function of this role.
  • Escalate complex problems to higher management when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
